Coffee, Cakes & Confessions

Feeling sinful or just hungry? Join a documentary shoot in Lofoten! Rebecca Bedehus in Lofoten is inviting guests to an "Arctic confessional" this summer as part of the filming of a new, heartwarming documentary series.

The café is run by the motto that everyone's a sinner, but every hungry soul is welcome. They're looking for people to join them for a 15-minute chat about anything from the little everyday rascals in life – like crawling along the E10 in a campervan or grumbling about the seagulls – to deeper stories of regret, fresh starts, and finding peace.

As a thank-you for your honesty, you get full forgiveness, free coffee and homemade cake, plus a mandatory, soul-cleansing spoonful of Arctic cod liver oil. Just drop by the café and let the barista know when you're ready.

Rebecca Bedehus invites tourists to "confession" and a Artic Cod-Liver-Shock in Lofoten.

ebecca Bedehus is taking its slogan to the next level. This summer, part of the café is being transformed into a modern "confessional booth" for international tourists. The goal is a heartwarming and humorous documentary series about the people who come in search of experiences in Lofoten's magnificent natural landscape.

Our slogan has always been that 'here is all sinners and hungry souls welcome". Now we're taking this concept all the way onto the movie screen," says Tore Ramberg of Rebecca Bedehus.

Through an informal, cozy chat over a cup of coffee, tourists from all over Europe are invited to unburden their consciences in front of the camera. What begins as humorous confessions about motorhome queues on the E10 or complaints about the northern Norwegian summer weather quickly turns into deep, universal conversations about the pressures of modern life, broken relationships, hidden secrets, and what truly matters when standing on the edge of the Lofoten Wall.

"Absolution" with Cod Liver Oil
To guarantee that genuine Northern Norwegian feelgood vibe, every confession wraps up with a thoroughly informal little ceremony. To receive full forgiveness (absolution) and cleanse the travelling soul, tourists must undergo a classic Arctic penance: a tablespoon of real Lofotr cod liver oil, followed by a resounding whack on the café's old ship's bell. It breaks the ice instantly and brings a smile back to every face, says Tore Ramberg with a grin.
